International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) has officially recertified Barbex Africa
Projects Limited as compliant with the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC) for the
transportation and interim storage of cyanide, reinforcing the company’s commitment to safety,
environmental responsibility, and international best practices within Ghana’s mining industry.
The recertification follows a rigorous audit process conducted by an accredited independent thirdparty auditor, the audit report was submitted to the International Cyanide Management Institute
(ICMI) for review and assessment. Following its evaluation, ICMI officially confirmed Barbex’s
compliance with the Cyanide Code.

The International Cyanide Management Code was developed to promote the safe manufacture,
transport, storage, use, and disposal of cyanide used in gold and silver mining. The Code is
administered by the International Cyanide Management Institute, a non-profit organization
established specifically to oversee implementation of the Cyanide Code and encourage responsible
cyanide management practices globally.

According to ICMI, the Institute’s key responsibilities include promoting implementation and
compliance with the Cyanide Code across the global mining industry, monitoring the effectiveness
of the Code, developing support and funding for Institute activities, collaborating with
governments, NGOs, and financial institutions, identifying operational or technical gaps in
implementation, and revising the Code where necessary to meet evolving industry standards.
Barbex’s successful recertification demonstrates that the company’s cyanide transportation and
interim storage operations meet internationally recognized standards for health, safety,
environmental protection, emergency response preparedness, and operational accountability.
This achievement further positions Barbex Africa Projects Limited as a trusted partner within
Ghana’s mining supply chain and highlights the company’s dedication to maintaining responsible
operational practices in support of sustainable mining activities across the region.
The certification also reflects the growing importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance
(ESG) standards within the mining sector, where mining service providers are increasingly
expected to demonstrate compliance with internationally accepted safety and environmental
management frameworks.
